KNITTING
Beginning Knitting with MYS Staff During the first 2 classes, you will learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease & cast off. On the 3rd class session, you will pick out an easy project, learn to read knitting instructions & work on your chosen project for the remainder of the course. Fee: $70/4 week sessionNote:  All materials must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio, Ltd.  Beginning Knitting can be taken twice.

My First Sweater (That Fits) with Darlene Joycemys first sweaterUse Ann Budd’s book, The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns and the yarn of your choice to make a basic pullover sweater or cardigan in any size. The set-in-sleeve is flattering to almost all body types. Couture techniques are taught to refine your knitting repertoire. In order to allow for knitting time, this class meets every other week.

fisherwoman's cowlFisherwoman’s Cowl with Emily HrobskyLearn how to do traditional Fisherman’s rib.  This technique is different than Brioche knitting.  It involves knitting in the row below.  You will make a simple scarf and you can sew  the ends together to form a cowl if you prefer.  This stitch can be used for the whole family!

perfect necklinesPerfect Necklines with Darlene JoyceAre you tired of necklines with holes or gaps?  Would you like to learn professional ways of shaping a neckline and picking up stitches?  Darlene will share all her secrets that she uses to have perfect necklines.  Homework required.Perfect Necklines Homework.

moccasin socksMoccasin Socks with GeorgElizabeth Zimmermann’s description of  Moccasin Socks.  “The item, hot from the griddle, which I now unveil is the Moccasin Sock; the Breathrough Sock, the Not-To-Be-Ground-Down Sock; the Eventually Totally Re-footable Sock.  Call it what you will; all the above tentative titles apply.”  These sole of these socks can be taken out and reknit.  Students must purchase or have either the Knitter’s Almanac or Knitting Around book.

Hannah’s Honeydew Hat with Kate Joycehannah's honeydewUsing a basic linen stitch this adorable hat is made in two complementary colors of HiKoo’s Simplicity.  Simplicity is a customer favorite yarn because of it’s range of colors and because it is easy to knit with.  Come pick your favorite color combination and join Kate in the fun of learning something new.  Designed by Hannah Mann.  Homework:  Cast on and knit ribbing before class.

Correcting Mistakes with Darlene JoyceAre you tired of running into the shop every time the stitches fall off the needle?  Come and learn how to correct common mistakes made while knitting.  You will learn to pick up dropped stitches in stockinette, garter, and at the end of the row.   The class will include exercises in dropping down pattern stitches, picking up dropped stitches, and ripping out rows of knitting and getting stitches back on the needle.  Please pick up homework sheet.Correcting Mistakes Homework

How to Knit a “True” Moebius with Darlene JoycemoebiusWhat is a moebius you ask?  Discovered by German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius.  According to Wikepedia, a Möbius (or Moebius) strip, a non-orientable two-dimensional surface with only one side when embedded in three-dimensional Euclidean space.  That will take you back to high school geometry class!  Using Cat Bordhi’s YouTube video, worsted weight yarn and a 47” circular needle, we will explore moebius knitting and begin a a simple scarf.

Advanced Correcting Mistakes with Darlene JoyceDoes taking out lace patterns confuse you?   Do you want to become more skilled at ripping out your mistakes?  This class was developed by popular request.  Students must know how to rip out basic stockinette or have taken the “Correcting Mistakes” class.  Please pick up homework sheet.

wrapped in colorCharlotte's WebCharlotte’s Web Shawl with June SorensenMaie Landra began to knit this shawl in a simple lace pattern, interchanging the colorways.  The pattern is now
legendary among knitters.  The shawl uses five different variegated colorways, each one eased into the next.  You may decide to knit some colorways wider than others.  There are many choices.

Garter Lace Triangles with Darlene JoycegarterlacetriangleThe technique used in this lace pattern is reminiscent of entrelac.  A garter triangle is knit and stitches of increasing length are picked up along the edge.  Very interesting to work.  Students will make start a scarf or cowl.

CROCHETING
Beginning/ Intermediate Crochet with MYS StaffThis class is for crocheters of any skill level.  It is tailored around what you know and what you’d like to learn.  If you’re new to crochet, you’ll get started with chain, single, and double crochet stitches.  Already know the basics?  Then learn to read patterns and stitch diagrams.  If you want to learn classics like granny squares, doilies, motifs, or filet crochet, only your imagination is the limit!  Come prepared with a project of your choosing, and let’s get started.  All yarn must be purchased from MYS.

Natalia (Tunisian Scarf) with Darlene JoycenataliaIf you know  some of the basics and want to try some Tunisian knit and purl stitches, this scarf is for you.  Pick out 4 contrasting colors of HiKoo Simplicity and a size L Tunisian hook.  Pattern is free on Ravelry or in The New Tunisian Crochet.

CLASS POLICIES
Class Materials:
Except when noted, yarns must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio. Come in as soon as possible to pick out your supplies in case we need to order something. Students receive a 10% discount on all class materials!
Registration:
Registration is required for all classes. 100% of the class fee is due at registration. You may register by phone via Visa/Mastercard/American Express or use our online secure  shopping cart.  Of course, you can always register in person!
Minimum:
A minimum of three students is required in order for a class to run. You will be notified one week in advance if the minimum is not met and your deposit will be refunded.
Balance:
The balance of the class fees is due on the first day of class.
Cancellation:
Store credit can be issued for your deposit if we are notified one week before the start of class. After this point, deposits are non-refundable. Out of courtesy to our instructors, no make-up classes are given.
Special Fee Classes:
100% payment is due at the time of registration.
