Beginning Knitting with MYS Staff During the first 2 classes, you will learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease & cast off. On the 3rd class session, you will pick out an easy project, learn to read knitting instructions & work on your chosen project for the remainder of the course. Fee: $70/4 week session Note:  All materials must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio, Ltd.  Beginning Knitting can be taken twice.

Socks from the Toe Up with Courtney BuckalewsocksWith the yarn of your choice & some basic foot measurements, Courtney will guide you through the basic calculations & techniques for knitting a sock.  The Turkish Toe does not use short rows like the German method and many knitters find it easier to execute.  Students can opt to use double points or two circular needles.

Hannah’s Honeydew Hat with Kate Joycehannah's honeydewUsing a basic linen stitch this adorable hat is made in two complementary colors of HiKoo’s Simplicity.  Simplicity is a customer favorite yarn because of it’s range of colors and because it is easy to knit with.  Come pick your favorite color combination and join Kate in the fun of learning something new.  Designed by Hannah Mann.  Homework:  Cast on and knit ribbing before class.

Spiral Hat with Georg Luxtonspiral hatA masterpiece from the work of Elizabeth Zimmermann.  This hat can be made in one evening with super thick yarn and a big needle!  The sample hat is done in a  braided yarn, Ushya,  and is from Marisol’s new collection.  Elizabeth also referred to this hat at the conch, snail or Dairy Queen hat.  You can find the pattern in Knitting Without Tears or The Opinionated Knitter.

Cabled Mittens with Darlene Joycecabled mittensLearn  how to make a cabled mitten, using worsted weight yarn and size US 5 double pointed needle.  Some experience with double points is helpful.  Darlene used Capony Worsted (a 50% alpaca, 30% merino wool, 20% bamboo) for her sample.  Free pattern.

Correcting Mistakes with Darlene JoyceAre you tired of running into the shop every time the stitches fall off the needle?  Come and learn how to correct common mistakes made while knitting.  You will learn to pick up dropped stitches in stockinette, garter, and at the end of the row.   The class will include exercises in dropping down pattern stitches, picking up dropped stitches, and ripping out rows of knitting and getting stitches back on the needle.  Please pick up homework sheet.Correcting Mistakes Homework

Beginning/ Intermediate Crochet with MYS Staff This class is for crocheters of any skill level.  It is tailored around what you know and what you’d like to learn.  If you’re new to crochet, you’ll get started with chain, single, and double crochet stitches.  Already know the basics?  Then learn to read patterns and stitch diagrams.  If you want to learn classics like granny squares, doilies, motifs, or filet crochet, only your imagination is the limit!  Come prepared with a project of your choosing, and let’s get started.  All yarn must be purchased from MYS.

Exploring Tunisian Crochet with Darlene Joyce exploring tunisisanDuring the first half of the class you will learn the basics of Tunisian crochet including the anatomy of Tunisian crochet stitches, Tunisian simple stitch, Tunisian knit stitch, abbreviations, etc.  During the second half, advanced applications of Tunisian will be explored.  Please ask for a supply list when registering.

Except when noted, yarns must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio. Come in as soon as possible to pick out your supplies in case we need to order something. Students receive a 10% discount on all class materials!
Registration is required for all classes. 100% of the class fee is due at registration. You may register by phone via Visa/Mastercard/American Express or use our online secure  shopping cart.  Of course, you can always register in person!
A minimum of three students is required in order for a class to run. You will be notified one week in advance if the minimum is not met and your deposit will be refunded.
The balance of the class fees is due on the first day of class.
Store credit can be issued for your deposit if we are notified one week before the start of class. After this point, deposits are non-refundable. Out of courtesy to our instructors, no make-up classes are given.
